ABOUT OUR MUSIC
The storytelling magic that defines "Stationed at Home" would not be complete without its music. From the hilarious song "Roadkill", by the hit 90s band The Horse Flies, to Gaucho's heart-racing romp, the music Daniel and his collaborators cultivated is a critical part of its magic. Throughout the film, the original score by Logan Nelson brilliantly taps into the very heart and soul of the film. Whether upbeat 80s techno or heartbreaking acoustic compositions, Nelson masterfully amplifies the power of “Stationed at Home” with his unforgettable score.
Original Score by Composer Logan Nelson
Logan Nelson scores compositions that evoke thrilling textures unique to each project. He was named the Best Young International Composer at the World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent, Belgium. Logan attended the festival with Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins who named him a “must watch composer.” Logan just composed the music for Season 2 of the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ drama, The Morning Show, in collaboration with Carter Burwell. Logan’s score for Showtime’s “Nothing Lasts Forever”, directed by Sundance-winning director, Jason Kohn, received rave reviews, with the Hollywood Reporter describing the music as “mining the genre [of a ‘70s conspiracy thriller with] sometimes the spritely kick of a heist film."
As an additional composer for Kris Bowers, Logan wrote music on Netflix’s critically-acclaimed “Dear White People” and ABC’s “For the People”. Following these projects, they worked on the Oscar-winning film, “Green Book”, compiling both the original score as well as many of the source tracks. Logan has an EP, Lavender Echoes, on 1631 Recordings and Decca Records. His art piece with generative artist, Brendan Dawes, whose work is found at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), was recently auctioned at Sotheby’s. Logan resides in Los Angeles, California.
Additional Music by Gaucho
Gaucho is excited to be a part of Stationed at Home. Hailing from the Bay Area, Gaucho is a masterful band that combines the influence of gypsy jazz of 1930’s Europe with the rhythmic drive and collective improvisation of New Orleans swing music, gutbucket blues and elements of ragtime. Their sound, a uniquely American concoction, blends instrumental acuity and lighthearted humor that keep their audience coming back for more. As founder, guitarist, and main composer Dave Ricketts says, the band is “in love with the music of Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller and Jimmie Rodgers, as well as the stories, the life styles and the foot steps of hundreds of other great jazz, blues, country and rock musicians that created the sound of American Music from roughly 1900-1950’s.”
Gaucho has recorded seven albums, tours regularly, and has an increasing repertoire of over forty original tunes. Seven of their tunes are featured in the 2012 film "Trattoria"; one was chosen by the Metropolitan Museum of Art for their website; and another is featured in the outtakes section of the Pixar DVD CARS 2.
Led by eminent guitarist, Dave Ricketts, the group has been a San Francisco mainstay for over fifteen years, and one of the busiest bands in the bay area playing 5 to 10 gigs a week. Together with virtuosos Rob Reich–accordion and Craig Venetresco–guitar, superlative bassist Ari Munkres and versatile percussionist Steve Apple, these guys keep crowds moving with their beats and complex rhythms.

Additional Music by The Horse Flies
The Horse Flies formed in the collegetown of Ithaca, NY in the early 1980s and retired the band in 2016. During their run, they consistently explored an intersection of the old and new to create a musical world all their own. With a love of both the traditional and modern, they blended Americana roots with indie rock, ethnic percussion, creative songwriting, and a fierce, percolating groove. Part trance-inducing minimalism, achieved through a neo-primitive approach to fiddle music, and part folk-rock American gothic, achieved through emotive singing and haunting, original songs, The Flies’ music has often been recognized for its intensity, quirkiness, poetry, and skill.
